Pearl City High’s marching band heading to ‘Windy City’ to perform in lights festival

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Pearl City High School’s marching band is heading to the “Windy City.”
The marching band will perform in Chicago on Saturday, Nov. 23 at the Wintrust Magnificent Mile Lights Festival.
It features 1 million lights illuminating the Magnificent Mile’s 200 plus trees along North Michigan Avenue.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to bring the aloha spirit to the people of Chicago. Many of these students started playing their instruments during the height of the COVID pandemic,” said Pearl City High School Director of Bands Chadwick Kamei.
“It’s amazing to see how they have thrived in the past few years. I am thrilled that they are able to travel and share their music with people around our nation.”
The school says this will be the first time a band from Hawaii will participate in the parade.
The group will leave for Chicago on Wednesday, Nov. 20.
